Talk: Blemished and Bent; designing with nature, 24th September 2022

Sara Grady and Alice Robinson, the co-founders of the new regenerative leather company Grady + Robinson, have invited me to join a discussion around the themes of material culture and design and its connections to food and farming. Regenerative designer Sebastian Cox will also join the discussion.

The talk, titled “Blemished and Bent; designing with nature” accompanies their exhibition “Leather from British Pastures” with a display of objects, material, and imagery connecting leather with regenerative agriculture. The exhibition is open from 20-25th September 2022 as part of the London Design Festival.

Our talk takes place at 5pm on 24th September 2022 at the exhibition venue, Rochelle School in Shoreditch, London.

Talk: In conversation with Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd, 21st September 2022

I will be hosting a conversation with the founders of PearsonLloyd design studio at the Modus Furniture showroom in Clerkenwell, London at 5pm on 21st September 2022, as part of the London Design Festival.

The talk coincides with the launch of their new Edge Free seating system, produced by Modus. One of the defining features of the collection is that the usual polyurethane foam (produced from fossil fuels) has been replaced with coconut fibres layered with wool over steel springs, resulting in a product that is 66% less carbon intense to produce. We will be discussing this plus the role of design in the climate emergency and celebrating the evolution of PearsonLloyd over the 25 years of their studio.
