Max's career started writing books about contemporary design and his work as an author continues today, having penned more than ten books and contributed to many others. Keen to pursue timely stories, he also contributes to a variety of magazines and online journals across the world.

An assortment of Max's early titles

Back in 2001, Max launched his first book, DESIGN UK, a guidebook to the best design shops and young designers across the UK. Since then, he has written other titles including DESIGNERS ON DESIGN with Terence Conran, featuring interviews with the best designers from across the world and monographs about Piet Hein Eek, Luca Nichetto and Benjamin Hubert.

In 2009, Max ventured into the creation of titles under his own publishing imprint (Spotlight Press), bringing to market LONDON DESIGN GUIDE across four editions, as well as co-publishing DEZEEN BOOK OF IDEAS.
